Soccer

Manchester City have won their first ever Champions League title.

They beat Inter Milan 1-0 at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul this evening.

A goal from Rodri in the 68th minute was enough to complete a historic treble for City.

GAA

Down produced a strong finish to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Tailteann Cup.

Conor Laverty's side came from behind to beat Longford by 1-20 to 1-12 in Newry.

Laois are also through after a 1-11 to 1-9 victory over Fermanagh.

Earlier today, Wexford advanced courtesy of a 1-22 to 2-14 defeat of Offaly and Carlow were 15 points to ten winners over New York.


All-Ireland champions Kilkenny were held to a draw by Wexford in their Group Two match in the All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship.

It finished 1-17 to 3-11 at Nowlan Park.

Tipperary beat Dublin by 2-19 to 1-6 in today's other Group Two fixture.

The Premier County lead by 2-18 to 1-6 approaching full-time.

At Nowlan Park, Kilkenny lead Wexford by 12 points to 1-5 midway in the early stages of the second half.

Tennis

Iga Swiatek is the French Open women's singles champion for the third time in four years.

The world number one overcame Karolina Muchova (pron: Muck-ovva) in this afternoon's final 6-2, 5-7, 6-4.

It's Swiatek's fourth Grand Slam title.

 

Golf

Rory McIlroy is three shots off the lead heading into his third round at the Canadian Open.

The defending champion is six-under-par with Carl Yuan out in front on nine-under.

McIlroy tees off at ten-past-seven Irish time.

Shane Lowry has dropped two shots in his opening six holes to fall back to one-under-par.


Stephanie Meadow looks set to miss the cut at the Shoprite LPGA Classic.

The Antrim native is four-over-par after 17 holes - leaving her four shots outside the projected cut mark.
