The two All-Ireland intermediate football semi-finals slated for today managed to survive the cold spell.

Kerry kingpins Austin Stacks were shocked by Ballinderry after a strong second half saw the Derry men take the other semi final by 0-11 to 0-7 at Parnell Park.

Tomorrow's All Ireland senior football semi final between Coolera-Strandhill and Cuala will go ahead as things stand.

However the other last four tie between Dr Crokes and Errigal Ciaran will now take place next Saturday instead.

Weather

A number of sporting events have already fallen victim to the cold snap this weekend.

Tomorrow's All-Ireland senior football semi-final between Errigal Ciarán and Dr Crokes has been postponed following a pitch inspection at O'Moore Park.

That game will now take place next Saturday - the other semi-final between Coolera-Strandhill and Cuala will go ahead, as it stands.

Today's racing at Cork, Sandown and Wincanton has been abandoned after early-morning inspections.

The stewards will inspect the track at Naas racecourse tomorrow morning ahead of an afternoon card there.

Soccer

Newcastle have won 2-1 at Tottenham to close in on the Premier League's top four.

Manchester City look set to record back to back wins in the Premier League for the first time since October today.

Goals from Erling Haaland and Savinho have given them a 2-0 lead at home to West Ham United.

It's half time in that game while it's Chelsea who lead Crystal Palace 1-0 at the break through Cole Palmer's strike.

Kevin Schade has given Brentford a 1-0 lead over Southampton.

It's scoreless between Bournemouth and Everton and in the game between Aston Villa and Leicester City.

The Amex is the setting for the evening game, with Brighton at home to title contenders Arsenal. Kick-off is at 5.30pm.
