Cork have recorded a camogie double this evening.

Their seniors bested Galway in the All Ireland final with a 1-16 to 16 point win in Croke Park.

The Cork intermediates also captured the All Ireland title with a one point win over Kilkenny.

Tipperary took the Premier Junior crown with a one-point win over Laois in the first of the triple header.

Jenny Grace scored a last minute free to win the Premier Junior decider for Tipperary.

They got the better of Laois by 0-12 points to 1-8.

Olympics

Fionnuala McCormack celebrated her third top 30 finish at the Olympic marathon.

The Wicklow woman is the first Irish woman to participate in 5 different Games and came 28th this morning.

Meanwhile, cyclist Lara Gillespie finished a very respectable 10th in the women's omnium in the velodrome.

Attention now turns to tonight's closing ceremony where the Irish flag will be flown by Daniel Wiffen and Mona McSharry.

 

Soccer

Galway United missed the chance to take a step closer to the top 4 in the SSE Airtricity Premier Division.

Ed McCarthy's goal helped them to a 1-1 draw with St Pats this afternoon.

That point leaves them in 5th and one point above Shamrock Rovers.

Rovers can go back above Galway with a win over Drogheda United this evening.

That game is just underway in Tallaght.


Celtic made it back-to-back wins at the start of the new Scottish Premiership season with a 2-nil victory over Hibs.

Aberdeen joined them as they maintained their 100 percent record by beating St Mirren 3-1.

There was a bit of a shock at Rugby Park where St Johnstone eased past 10-man Kilmarnock 3-nil.


Wayne Rooney begins his time in charge of Plymouth Argyle with an away fixture in the Championship today.

The ex Man United striker kicks off their season by travelling to Sheffield Wednesday in the only game of the day.

Kick off in that one is at 4pm.

 

Racing

There is racing at Downpatrick on Sunday afternoon
