A late goal from Bruno Guimaraes gave Newcastle all three points against Leicester City today. Eddie Howe's men coming out on top 2-1 at St James' Park.

Elsewhere, West Ham and Burnley played out a 1-1 draw at the London Stadium. Thomas Souchek's goal cancelled out the opener from Wout Weghorst.

Rangers secured the bragging rights over neighbours Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-finals.
They beat their rivals 2-1 after extra time in Hampden Park.

Greg Taylor opened the scoring for Celtic before Scott Arfield's strike brought the game to the extra period. A Carl Starfelt own goal settled the game for the Gers who will play Hearts in the decider.

GAA

Limerick have won their opening game of the Munster Senior Hurling championship. The defending champions beat Cork 2-25 to 1-17 in Pairc Ui Chaoimh

Kyle Hayes and Aaron Gillane raised green flags for the All Ireland winners.

Waterford opened their Munster Hurling Championship account with a win today.

They pulled away from Tipperary at the end to beat the Premier County 2-24 to 2-20. Michael Kiely and Dessie Hutichinson with the Deise goals.

In football, Sligo will play Roscommon in the last four of the Connacht Senior Championship.

They survived a scare against New York at Gaelic Park this evening. Tony McEntee's men came away from the US with a 1-16 to 1-15 point win.

Leitrim are also into semi-finals. That's after a 3-12 to 2-11 win over London in Ruislip.

Rugby

Racing 92 have booked their spot in the next round of the Heineken Champions Cup this evening. They got the better of Stade Francais 33-22 in their last 16 second leg.

Racing progress 55-31 on aggregate. The Parisians will face Sale in the last eight.

Golf

Shane Lowry is one shot off the lead going into the final round of the RBC Heritage on the US PGA Tour in South Carolina.

A third round 65 has him 10 under par and in a tie for second, with Harold Varner the Third out in front on 11 under par.

The Offaly man will get his final round underway at 6.50pm Irish time this evening.

Graeme McDowell is back out on course, and he is two under par after six holes today. That brings him to seven under for the tournament and a tie for 21st.

Snooker

Ronnie O'Sullivan has won his World Championship first round match against David Gilbert this afternoon. The six time world champion progressed over his fellow Englishman by 10 frames to five in Sheffield.

Horse racing

Galopin Des Champs bounced back from his Cheltenham Festival mishap with a dominant display in the BoyleSports Gold Cup Novice Chase at Fairyhouse.

Hugely impressive on his first two starts over fences, the Willie Mullins-trained six-year-old was poised to complete his hat-trick in the Turners Novices’ Chase at Prestbury Park last month.

Trainer Dermot McLoughlin, jockey Keith Donoghue and owner-breeder Pat Conway enjoyed a memorable afternoon at Fairyhouse after combining to win the first two races on Easter Sunday.

Tipperary bumper winner Imperial Ruler was the 6-4 favourite for the opening Ryan’s Cleaning, Waste & Recycling Maiden Hurdle, having finished second on his jumping bow at Down Royal last month.
