Shamrock Rovers have moved into second place in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division after a 2-0 win over league leaders Shelbourne.

Goals from Jack Byrne and Neil Farrugia put the defending champions back into the title race and 2 points behind their opponents in the table.

It means Shels have not recorded a league win since the 30th of August and have only won twice in their last 14 games in all competitions.

The result leaves 6 teams within 7 points of the top of the table as we head into the final few games of the season.


A 92nd minute winner sent Drogheda United into the FAI Cup final.

Adam Foley scored his second of the game in added time as Drogs beat Wexford 3-2 at Weavers Park.

They will take on Derry in the final.


Brighton came back from 2-nil down to win a Premier League thriller 3-2 against Tottenham.

Manchester United are down in 14th place heading into the international break after getting a goalless draw at Aston Villa, putting manager Erik ten Hag under further pressure.

Chelsea remain fourth despite being held to a 1-1 draw by 10-man Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge.


Celtic came back from a goal down to beat Ross County 2-1 and maintain their 100 per cent start to the Scottish Premiership season.

The champions have won all seven of their opening top-flight games.

A fast start for Seamus Power has put him in contention on the final day of the Sanderson Farms Championship on the PGA Tour.

The Waterford man is currently 3 under through 5 holes to move him up to 17 under par and in a tie for 5th place.

The American Beau Hossler has now taken the lead and is one clear of the field on 20 under par.
