Bohemians have beaten Kerry on penalties in the third round of the Sports Direct FAI Cup this evening.

They couldn't be separated after finishing 2-2 following 120 minutes of play.

Spot kicks were called for with Declan McDaid slotting the crucial penalty to progress 4-2.

They go into the last 8 as a result.

Premier League

Premier League champions Manchester City have made an impressive start to their season with a 2-0 win at Chelsea.

Striker Erling Haaland scored his 91st goal in his 100th appearance for the club.

Meanwhile Chelsea striker Raheem Sterling said he will seek clarification from the club after he was left out of their squad today.

Elsewhere, Brentford left out Ivan Toney for their 2-1 victory at home to Crystal Palace in a London derby.

Golf

Seamus Power has got his final round of the St Jude Championship on the PGA Tour under way.

The Waterford man has parred his opening four holes to remain on 7 under par.

Shane Lowry meanwhile is 1 under par while a nightmare weekend for Rory McIlroy is over.

He shot a second consecutive round of 74 to finish on 9 over par.

Hideki Matsuyama leads by four shots on 17-under.

Athletics

Irish sprinter Israel Olatunde broke the national record for the 100 metres this afternoon.

The Dundalk runner clocked a new personal best of 10.12 seconds to win his 100m section at the NEB Open in the UK.

He knocked 0.5 seconds off his previous record that was set in the final of the 2022 European Athletics Championships in Munich.

Cycling

Australian rider Kaden Groves took the stage win on day two of the Vuelta a Espana this evening.

He bested Wout van Aert after the 194km ride into Ourem.

However, the Belgian will wear the leader's red jersey into tomorrow's third stage.

Cork's Eddie Dunbar finished in 113th while Darren Rafferty was back in 159th.
