Munster's Heineken Champions Cup campaign is off to a losing start.

In heavy fog at Thomond Park, they suffered an 18-13 defeat to Toulouse.

Joey Carbery scored all 13 of Munster's points, including a first-half try.

Head coach Graham Rowntree says they had opportunities to win the game.

Ulster also got off to an underwhelming start, as they slumped to a 39-0 defeat to Sale Sharks.

Glen manager Malachy O'Rourke says his players put in a 'massive performance' to win the Ulster club football title for the first time.

The Derry men beat reigning All-Ireland champions Kilcoo of Down by 1-12 to 1-6 at the Athletic Grounds in Armagh this afternoon.

Connacht champions Moycullen will provide the opposition to Glen in the All-Ireland semi-finals in the new year.

Athletics

Team Ireland claimed a total of five medals at the European Cross Country Championships in Turin earlier today.

In the men's under-20 race, Nick Griggs won silver with Dean Casey taking bronze.

In the team event at under-20 level, Ireland took silver.

The women's team won bronze, with the men's under-23 team also finishing third.

 

Soccer

Republic of Ireland star Katie McCabe scored for Arsenal in the Women's Super League this afternoon.

The Gunners captain netted their third goal against Aston Villa at Villa Park.

Arsenal ended as 4-1 winners.

Elsewhere, Manchester City and Manchester United played out a 1-all draw in their derby tie.

West Ham were 2-0 winners over Tottenham.

Hockey

The Irish women's hockey team were beaten by Spain in their Nations Cup opener earlier today.

Sean Dancer's side lost 2-0 in Valencia.

Ireland play Italy in their next match tomorrow, where a win will be required to maintain their hopes of reaching the semi-finals.
