Body discovered at RTÉ

The body of a man has been discovered on the grounds of RTÉ.

The discovery was made at around 10.30pm on Monday night, and the scene is currently sealed off.

The deceased has not yet been formally identified.

Tipperary deaths

Tipperary councillor Mark Fitzgerald is calling for support for the local community in the wake of a tragedy where an elderly couple was found dead in their home.

Yesterday, gardaí confirmed their bodies had been discovered on Monday afternoon in the townland of Cloneen, near the Tipperary-Kilkenny border.

Early indications suggest both bodies were undiscovered for a period of time.

Covid increase

Tánaiste Leo Varadkar has said he believes the country can get through the summer wave of Covid infections without the need to bring in fresh restrictions.

Mr Varadkar made the comments after HSE chief executive Paul Reid said they are considering making a recommendation to Government on the return of mandatory mask-wearing in some settings.

HSE chief clinical officer Dr Colm Henry has also said he is "very concerned" about the spike in the number of people in hospital with the virus.

Travel chaos

The boss of Ryanair has warned that flight delays and cancellations will continue "right throughout the summer" as airports suffer amid staff shortages.

Michael O’Leary, chief executive of the budget airline, said passengers should brace for a "less than satisfactory experience", with flight delays due to last across the peak season and some airlines cancelling between 5-10 per cent of flights.

Mr O’Leary blamed the problems on shortages of airport staff across air traffic control, baggage handling and security.
