Gardaí launch new search into missing women
Detectives investigating the disappearance of Deirdre Jacob are searching a new area following reports of “unusual activity” in woodland the evening she went missing.
A fresh search of an isolated part of Co Kildare is under way as part of the investigation into the murders of Ms Jacob and JoJo Dollard.
Inspector John Fitzgerald, who is leading the search operation, said a review of the evidence identified the woodland as “an area of interest”, which may be relevant to the inquiry.
Investigators are searching almost three acres of land, which is expected to take up to three weeks.
Government finalising Budget 2022

Despite a €7 billion improvement in the budget deficit over the last number of weeks, Minister for Public Expenditure Michael McGrath insisted there will be no last minute spending “splurge”.
It is understood the budget will focus on offsetting rising fuel prices and the increased cost of living.
Man sentenced for murdering brother
A Limerick man has been sentenced to life in prison after murdering his brother at their family home.
Gerard Lynch admitted to fatally stabbing his brother William Lynch following a row in 2017.
Woman charged for Limerick hit-and-run
A woman has been remanded in custody after she was charged in connection with a hit-and-run in Limerick Sunday morning, in which a car was allegedly driven into a number of people, critically injuring a man and leaving three women with less serious injuries.
Chloe McNamara, (20), of Sarsfield Gardens, Moyross, Limerick, appeared before Limerick District Court today, Monday, charged with four offences arising out of the alleged incident on Sunday morning.
Ms McNamara is also charged with failing to give assistance to a male, knowing this person was injured, arising out of an incident in which she was allegedly involved in, at Cornmarket Row.
