Guidelines for cafes and restaurants
Indoor hospitality must not feature live or loud music and customers will face an 11.30pm curfew, new Fáilte Ireland guidance says.
Outdoor dining will resume from June 7th, while indoor dining is expected to receive a July reopening date in the next announcement on easing restrictions this week.
The guidance states groups will not be able to book multiple tables indoors, nor will any parties or social gatherings be permitted inside.
Blanchardstown shooting
Two gardaí remain in hospital after they were shot during an incident in west Dublin on Tuesday.
One man has been arrested following an armed siege in Blanchardstown. The plain clothes detectives were in the Whitechapel Grove area when a man fired at them from his home.
Government spending forecasts
The Fiscal Advisory Council has warned the Government that its budgetary forecasts “lack credibility” and are inconsistent with future spending commitments.
It said the official budgetary forecasts are poorly founded, major policy commitments are not built in and the promised medium-term strategy has not been delivered.
However, the Council said the Irish economy is likely to bounce back quickly as Covid restrictions ease and as vaccines are rolled out.
Vaccine latest
Over 2.5 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine are now thought to have been administered in the Republic, ahead of an announcement regarding the next phase of the rollout.
On Thursday, the health service is expected to detail plans to increase the number of doses administered per week to over 400,000 – approximately 300,000 shots were given last week.
Bessborough site
Planning permission has been refused for a 179-unit apartment development on the site of a former mother and baby home in Cork.
The permission was denied by An Bord Pleanála, stating it would be premature to grant planning permission to MWB Two to build the three apartment blocks on the Bessborough site before establishing the presence and extent of any burial site
