Cost of living crisis
Tánaiste Leo Varadkar said the Government will consider budget day measures to tackle the cost of living crisis that will take effect immediately.
Mr Varadkar said the Government is assessing which measures can be implemented right away as part of the budget package set to be announced in October.
The Fine Gael leader said he has not ruled out bringing in additional measures to help cash-strapped households, but said there are no specific plans to before budget day.
International travel
Over 4.7 million passengers passed through the State's five main airports in the first three months of the year, according to new data from the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
The figure was 11 times that of the same period last year, however, remained 21 per cent below the first three months of 2020, prior to the outbreak of Covid-19.
Approximately 32,000 more flights flew to and from Irish airports between January-March this year compared to 2021, bringing the total flights figure at the five airports (Dublin, Cork, Shannon, Knock and Kerry) to just over 41,000.
Soaring temperatures
The summer season has officially begun with temperatures set to hit 25 degrees on Friday.
Parts of the country will bask in temperatures reaching the mid-teens, with Friday expected to be the hottest day of the year so far.
On Thursday, highs of up to 22 degrees are expected in some areas.
However, the sunny weather is not expected to last into the weekend, with temperatures coming back down into the mid to high teens.
Kinahan to be served
The Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) will serve papers on crime boss Daniel Kinahan by registered post after they discovered addresses for him in Dubai from a US Treasury press release.
On Thursday, Shelley Horan BL, acting for CAB, told the High Court that in April the US Treasury Department issued a press release stating that it had sanctioned the Kinahan organised crime group. In the release, she said, there is a residential and a business address associated with Kinahan in Dubai.
CAB has been trying to serve papers on Kinahan since April.
