Vigil for Tallaght victims
A vigil is set to take place outside the home of the victims of a violent attack in Tallaght where three siblings were killed.
Postmortem examinations were due to be carried out on Monday on the bodies of eight-year-old twins killed during the violent incident.
Chelsea and Christy Cawley were stabbed to death along with their 18-year-old sister Lisa Cash at their home on Rossfield Avenue in Tallaght, just after midnight on Sunday.
The postmortem on Ms Cash's body was completed on Sunday night.
Instagram fine
The State's Data Protection Commissioner (DPC) has fined Instagram €405 million over breaching the privacy rights of children.
As reported by the Irish Examiner, an investigation by the DPC found the social media platform allowed children aged 13-17 to set up 'business' accounts.
The watchdog said phone numbers and email addresses of some children were publicly accessible at times, while some profiles were 'public' by default rather than 'private'.
The decision was made on Friday with the full details of the investigation to be published next week.
Transport fares cut
The 50 per cent cut in public transport fares for under 24s is to be extended to include private operators.
As the Irish Examiner reports, a formal announcement from the National Transport Authority about the move is expected this week.
Up to now, it only applied to state-subsidised public transport operators, such as Dublin Bus, Bus Eireann, Irish Rail and the Luas.
It was introduced earlier this year as part of the Government's response to the cost-of-living crisis.
Garth Brooks gigs
Organisers have said the five Garth Brooks concerts in Dublin will be an “extravaganza” that could be its biggest ever music event, and have warned those attending to prepare their journey to and from Croke Park.
Spokespeople for the promoter said that the stage was designed specifically for the concerts and is being assembled by specialists from the US.
“It is going to be extravaganza,” Aiken Promotions event controller Jim Clarke said on Monday.
“This equipment, a lot of it has been flown directly to Ireland from America. It is a one-off, it’s not part of the established tour. So everything we’re doing here we’re doing for the first time.”
New Tory leader
Taoiseach Micheál Martin has extended his congratulations to Britain's next prime minister, Liz Truss.
In a tweet, Mr Martin said: "Congratulations [Liz Truss] on your election as Conservative party leader.
"I look forward to working with you, as PM of our nearest neighbour, on important issues we face together, both bilaterally and globally."
