House and rent prices
The Covid pandemic has sent Dublin rents down while the rest of the country has seen prices rise seven per cent on last year.
According to the Daft.ie rental report for the first three months of 2021, the rise for renters outside of Dublin means they are now handing over an extra €900 per year.
Meanwhile, house prices grew by 3.7 per cent year-on-year in March – the fastest rate of growth recorded in two years – while property-related transactions jumped by 23 per cent.
Wedding marquee
The parents of a couple married in Co Armagh this morning have been told by a judge to take down a marquee they erected at a halting site in Burton Park, Leopardstown Road, Dublin, for an evening reception.
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council was granted leave to hire an independent contractor to remove the marquee if the defendants refused to do it themselves.
The contractor and gardaí arrived at the site this afternoon to begin removing the marquee.
Road safety
Gardaí and the Road Safety Authority have launched a new campaign calling on road users to be extra cautious and alert to others on the road.
The appeal comes as traffic volumes increase following the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions allowing intercounty travel to resume.
Reopening society
Publicans, hoteliers and restaurateurs around the country are preparing to reopen their doors following a prolonged Covid-19 shutdown.
The next major phase of reopening will begin on June 2nd, when hotels, B&Bs and guesthouses will be allowed to reopen. Outdoor dining will begin five days later on June 7th.
