Australian authorities are warning visitors to the country their visas will be cancelled if Covid guidelines are breached.
It comes after crowds gathered on Bronte beach in Sydney on Christmas Day.
Scenes of young people singing and dancing have sparked anger, as the city tries to contain an outbreak of Covid.
The country's Immigration Minister Alex Hawke told ABC News in Australia they are concerned in the run up to New Year's Eve.
Temporary visa holders
Mr Hawke said: “In the lead-up to New Year's, I'll make it absolutely clear, you must obey the public health orders if you're a temporary visa holder, you're a guest in Australia.
“We know most temporary visa holders do obey the public health orders but for that small group that think they can breach them and get away with it, we have asked our agencies to look into it, we will ask them to work with New South Wales officials and if we become aware that you've breached a public health order we will look at your visa conditions very, very carefully.”
