A crazed husband cut his wife’s heart out after discovering she had reported him to police for domestic violence.
Police in Brazil found Marcelo Nistarda Antoniassi holding the knife he allegedly used to remove Milena Dantas Bereta Nistarda’s organs after rushing to the murder scene.
As well as her heart, the victim’s guts are also said to have been cut out.
The 53-year-old victim had only reported her partner to police four hours earlier and he is believed to have gone berserk and smashed down the front door of their home by driving into it with his car before killing her.
The sickening crime happened in the town of Tupa, 600km northwest of Sao Paulo in Brazil.
Police confirmed Milena had reported her husband around 9.30am on Monday and she was murdered around 1.30pm the same day.
She is said to have told detectives her husband often kept her prisoner in her own home and forced her to have sex against her wishes.
She reported him the same day she discovered a tracking app on her phone.
The business manager confessed to his crime at the scene and begged officers to kill him but refused to answer questions once he was taken to a nearby police station.
The pair had been married for 29 years and had a grown-up son although they are also understood to have raised Marcelo’s daughter from another relationship. The mistreatment Milena suffered is said to have increased when the children left home a couple of months ago.
Police chief Milena Davoli Nabas de Melo told local media: “The suspect had a knife in his hand when officers arrived and asked them to shoot him because he had killed his victim, but they negotiated with him for a few minutes and got him to give up the knife and throw it on the ground.”
A regional government spokesman said in a statement “A 49-year-old man was arrested for murder after being caught red-handed on Monday afternoon in the neighbourhood of Vila Abarca in Tupa.
“The victim had asked for police protection against the suspect hours earlier.
“The man broke into the family home and stabbed the woman who died at the scene. He tried to flee but was arrested.”
The sole murder suspect was expected to be remanded in custody following a court appearance.
Milena’s funeral will take place after a post-mortem.
A friend described her in a social media tribute today as “incredible”, adding: “It’s not fair what happened to you.” Another added: “May God console your children.”
