Three senior political advisers to US president Joe Biden will brief US Senate Democrats on Thursday, the Biden campaign said, as a growing number within the party question whether Mr Biden should continue his re-election campaign.
Senior advisers Mike Donilon and Steve Ricchetti, as well as Biden campaign chair Jen O'Malley Dillon, will meet with Senate Democrats at a caucus lunch, the campaign said in a statement on Wednesday.
Mr Biden is trying to reassure Democrats about his chances in the November 5th election after a halting debate performance against Republican Donald Trump raised fresh questions about his ability to win and, if he does, to continue the gruelling job for another four years.
Eight House Democrats have called for Mr Biden to end his candidacy. No Senate Democrat has yet done so, though a few have raised doubts about Mr Biden's re-election prospects.
