Amazing picture of Lahinch getting HAMMERED in New Year's storm

Lahinch in Co Clare was one of the west coast towns to suffer significant damage in Thursday night's storm, and judging by the ferocity of the waves in the below photo, it's not hard to see why.
Photographer and surfer George Karbus took this pretty incredible picture of Lahinch promenade getting a proper beating in storm conditions last night.
The Czech native and award-winning snapper, who lives in Lahinch, told breakingnews.ie that the storm last night was not even as powerful as the one which cause widespread devastation in the popular coastal town in the early hours of Friday morning.
"The big storm was at 5 or 6 in the morning so nobody was up to get (photograph) it," he said.
"The waves in the picture were last night, when conditions were a little smaller," he added, still describing the swell as the heaviest he had ever seen in the area.
