Belfast's new crisp sandwich café actually looks pretty tasty

Ireland, north and south, blinked in disbelief last week when we learned that a crisp sandwich café was opening up in Belfast.

Yes- crisp sandwiches. Made with Tayto and bread (and some Walkers, too, because the discerning crisp fan needs choice).
Well, That Wee Café on 8 Bedford Street, Belfast, is now "Simply Crispy" - and it doesn't look half bad.

It turns out they're not doing this by halves at all - enthusiasts get to choose their bread, select from 30 flavours of crisps, add cheese or ham if you like, and - as you can see in the photo - they're all served with soup and chips.
Quite a long way from the sliced-pan-and-butter job we grew up on.
Even better, we could get one in Dublin.

The idea was originally a joke penned on satirical website The Ulster Fry by Seamus O’Shea and Billy McWilliams. But the reaction was so positive, they were approached by local café owner Andrew McMenamin to make it happen.
Now, O'Shea told UTV Ireland he's been approached by a Dublin business that wants to run the franchise in Dublin's Fair City. Never will the Tayto - King debate run hotter.
Now, I'll have the prawn cocktail in a white bap, please …
