Hospitalised Doherty cancels Irish tour

Singer Pete Doherty has been hospitalised, forcing him to cancel his Irish tour.

The Babyshambles frontman was taken to hospital in Wiltshire, England, last night after suffering breathing difficulties. It is not yet known what caused his condition.

His agent said in a statement: "Last night, Peter Doherty was admitted to Swindon Hospital with exhaustion and breathing difficulties. He is currently under observation by doctors."

The 30-year-old star’s solo tour was due to start in Belfast tonight and he was also due to play in Dublin on Wednesday and Galway on Thursday.

The cancelled shows will now be rescheduled. He is also set to embark on a UK tour with Babyshambles on December 10.

The singer – who has battled drug addictions in the past and served jailed sentences for burglary and for breaching a probation order - suffered further setbacks to his personal life earlier this month when he was once again in court.

Pete pleaded not guilty to dangerous driving after a concert in June. He will stand trial for the offence on December 21.
