RTÉ sports commentator George Hamilton is recovering in hospital after suffering a suspected heart attack on Tuesday.

Hamilton, who turned 60 earlier this year, was having breathing problems, but thought it could be the flu.

He went to see his GP who admitted him to hospital.

He is now recovering in the Blackrock Clinic in Dublin, where he has undergone several hours of emergency bypass surgery. He remains in a serious but stable condition.
