Irish Cancer Society film festival to highlight dangers of smoking

Over 38 youth groups from around the country will attend the Irish Cancer Society's "X-HALE" film festival.
The event, which is taking place at the Lighthouse cinema in Smithfield in Dublin, will see over 200 youngsters gather to showcase their film projects on the big screen.
It follows the Government's announcement that Ireland will be one of the first countries in the world to ban branding from cigarette packaging.
Health Promotion at the Irish Cancer Society Manager Kevin O'Hagan said the film festival sends a clear message.
"The 'X-HALE' film festival ultimately aims to prevent young people from starting to smoke and to remain smoke free," he said.
"Today we are hosting a film festival in Dublin, we have 38 youth groups coming from all over the country
"We will showcase their short film project on the large screen, these films are certainly creative and colourful and they send a message of the harmful effects of smoking."
