Property tax helpline worker suspended amid fraud allegations

A worker on the property tax helpline has been suspended, amid allegations of unauthorised use of credit cards.

It's suspected that a member of staff at Abtran had unnecessarily asked 11 callers for their card numbers.

However, no cardholder suffered any loss.

Gardaí have been informed, as has the Data Protection Commissioner.

The Revenue Commissioners say they are "extremely concerned" by the alleged attempted credit card fraud.
