Sligo, Donegal and Knock airports have also been shutdown this morning due to the latest appearance of volcanic ash from Iceland.

All other airports in the country will remain open and Irish Aviation Authority is continuing to monitor the situation.

While Sligo, Donegal and Knock airports remain shutdown at the moment, others across the country continue to operate as normal for now.

The restrictions have been enforced due to the increased volcanic activity and ash cloud drifting over Irish airspace.

Pending a review by the IAA this afternoon, Dublin airport will remain open until 7pm this evening, Galway until 2pm today, Waterford and Shannon airports until 11pm tonight and Cork and Kerry until 1am tomorrow.

The IAA is currently carrying out observation flights and will continue to review analysis and observation results throughout the day.

Passengers planning to travel by air over the coming days are advised to regularly check their airline websites and the IAA website in advance of going to the airport.
