Seven RUC officers were injured, one of them seriously, when they were attacked in Lurgan overnight.

Youths pelted them with stones and petrol bombs.

The RUC were there to protect Army bomb disposal experts who spent 12 hours examining a suspect package on the railway line in Lurgan.

The device proved to be a hoax.

The RUC has said the attack on its officers was "totally unprovoked".
