Almost 500,000 people have begun to gather in Dublin's city centre ahead of tonight's Skyfest fireworks display to mark the St Patrick's festival.

The event takes place along the city's quays and traffic restrictions take effect from now until 8.30pm from Capel St to the East Link.

Extra bus and DART services will operate after the fireworks and people are being advised to wear warm clothes, as Met Eireann expects a clear but cold night.
