Representatives of Sinn Fein and the SDLP are to meet later today to discuss a possible pact between the two parties for the forthcoming British general election.

The two parties have a total of only five seats from a possible 18.

If they strike an agreement, they could win two or three more.

However, the SDLP is already claiming that Sinn Fein never had any real intentions of negotiating and has simply been going through the motions to look good in the eyes of the electorate.

Sinn Fein has accused the SDLP of spoiling its chances of defeating the UUP candidate in West Tyrone by standing Brid Rodgers in the constituency.
