Sinn Féin representatives have met with the Taoiseach this evening for almost two hours ahead of this week's summit of the two governments and the pro-agreement parties.

Gerry Adam's told the Taoiseach of his opposition to the policing set-up in the North at the moment.

In addition, he discussed the continuing sectarian violence in the North along the peacelines.

Sinn Fein's Pat Doherty who was at the meeting insists that the idea that republicans from the Short Strand area are attacking loyalists in surrounding areas is all a myth.

Mr Doherty told the Taoiseach that this was impossible considering that there were only 3,000 republicans in the Short Strand area compared to the 60,000 loyalists in the surrounding areas.
