Two men wearing hoods and carrying a hammer threatened security staff before locking them into the security office and making off with a small amount of cash.

Meanwhile, gardai in Ballinasloe are investigating a failed robbery attempt at a supermarket in the town which happened shortly after 9.30pm last night.

Five men in a silver car approached two female staff members as they were locking up the premises. An attempt to get into the premises failed and the raiders fled the scene.
