West Brom are close to signing Wales striker Robert Earnshaw after agreeing a fee with Cardiff today.

The 23-year-old has scored seven times in 12 appearances for his country and is widely regarded as one of the best players operating outside the top flight.

The Baggies can now discuss personal terms with the player.

A statement on Cardiff’s official website read: “A fee for the transfer of Robert Earnshaw to West Brom has been agreed.

“The player has been given permission to talk to WBA and subject to the player agreeing personal terms and passing a medical, the transfer will be completed by the Premier League deadline.

“Until such time as the deal has been completed there will be no further comments from the club or its officials.”
