The appointment of leading Portadown Orangeman David Burroughs to the North's Parades Commission has been quashed in Belfast High Court.

The appointment of leading Portadown Orangeman David Burroughs to the North's Parades Commission has been quashed in Belfast High Court.

The court says he can re-apply but his appointment by the Northern Secretary Peter Hain had been unlawful.

Mr Justice Morgan said the appointment of David Burrows to the commission last November should be quashed because the appointments procedure was unlawful, in that it failed to ensure commission membership was representative of the community.
