Gardai in Dublin are investigating the theft of a valuable boat this morning.

A white Dragon Day racing boat was stolen from outside parking space on the Stillorgan dual carriageway near Donnybrook between 7.15am and 8am today.

The specialist racing boat is one of only 30 in Ireland and is valued at €30,000.

The boat has the name "Lucky Lucky" in black lettering on the side, weighs two tonnes and would require a crane to launch.

There is a dismantled 40 ft white mast on board with IRL 136 written on it.

Gardai are appealing to motorists who may have seen a boat in transit on the city bound side of the dual carriageway, Aylesbury Road, Beaver Row or Milltown Road or any other area to contact them at 01 6669200.
