Soccer: Houllier's selection poser

Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier must decide whether to take the risk of sending out a much changed team for Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final against Wycombe at Villa Park from the one which did battle with Barcelona.

Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier must decide whether to take the risk of sending out a much changed team for Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final against Wycombe at Villa Park from the one which did battle with Barcelona.

Houllier reports no significant injury problems from the game in the Nou Camp, with only long-term injury victims Jari Litmanen, Jamie Redknapp and Vegard Heggem out of the frame.

But with Liverpool facing a vital Premiership clash at Ipswich on Tuesday, Houllier must consider resting players with such a fierce programme.

It will almost certainly mean that the players who did not start in Barcelona - Nick Barmby, Robbie Fowler, Gary McAllister, Vladmir Smicer, Igor Biscan, Stephen Wright and Gregor Vignal - are likely to figure prominently.

Team (from): Westerveld, Babbel, Henchoz, Hyypia, Carragher, Wright, Vignal, Smicer, Berger, Murphy, Hamann, Gerrard, Murphy, Heskey, Owen, Fowler, McAllister, Arphexad.
