Esat BT has become the first Irish telecommunications firm to receive an award from the Institution of Engineers of Ireland (IEI).
The continuing professional development (CPD) award recognises organisations whose development policies for engineers meet quality standards.
The IEI is the largest professional institution in Ireland and the CPD scheme is supported by the Department of Enterprise, Trade & Employment under the National Training Fund.
To date, 41 companies have received the award, with Esat BT the first telecommunications company to receive it.
A wholly-owned subsidiary of BT Group plc, Esat BT is headquartered in Dublin with more than 900 employees. It also has offices in Cork, Limerick, Galway and Waterford.
