Ireland are not taking anything for granted in the pursuit of a possible grand slam in this year's RBS Six Nations Championship.

At a press conference today, forwards coach Gert Smal, defensive coach Les Kiss and team manager Paul McNaughton spoke on various matters relating to the team and their championship challenge.

Smal said that he is pleased with the progress of the Ireland forwards, spoke of the changes he has brought to the Irish scrum, the chance of John Hayes and Marcus Horan being in the Lions squad and the challenge of Scotland.

Kiss said that he was disappointed to concede a try against England, its similarity with others condeded, the work that he does in the short timespan with the national side and the defence of Ireland’s 10-12 channel, as well as his opinion that the ELV rules need to be got rid of.

McNaughton gave an injury update to the assembled media, spoke of the players being released to their clubs for the Magners League this weekend, Ireland’s Grand Slam hopes, the need for Ireland not to get ahead of themselves and Ronan O’Gara’s bad day at the office against England and Brian O'Driscoll's resurgence.

All three spoke to Breakingnews.ie sports reporter Shaun Cronin.
