O2 Ireland to create new retail operation and to reduce staff
Ireland has announced a significant restructuring of its retial business.
It will involve the formation of a new retail company, 02 Retail, and the consolidation of 02Ireland's existing retail operation, Cellular World, O'Hagan Communications, Eire Communications and Access Communications. Brendan O'Hagan has been appointed Managing Director of 02 Retail.
The integration of the four companies will allow 02 Ireland to adopt one retail approach, to remove the duplication of shops and reduce overheads.
The first phase in the restructuring will result in a reduction of up to 45 employees from the headquarters of the subsidiaries in Dublin, Galway and Cork.
The headquarters of the retail operation will be based in Blackrock, Co. Dublin. The second phase of the restructuring will include a review of the more than 100 shops nationwide in which 250 people are employed
