Gardaí in Dublin are continuing to question two men arrested yesterday in connection with the murder of Latvian woman Baiba Saulite in the north of the city last month.

The pair, who are believed to be Lebanese, were arrested early yesterday at separate locations in Dublin.

Ms Saulite, a 28-year-old mother-of-two, was shot dead at her home in Swords on November 19.

Gardaí believe the murder was carried out by a hitman.

Ms Saulite had recently given evidence in an abduction case against her estranged husband, Lebanese man Hassan Hassan, who is in prison for his role in the organised theft of luxury cars.

Her solicitor in that case was being given armed garda protection following threats to his life.

Ms Saulite had also feared for her safety, but was not offered any garda protection at the time of her death.
