The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Brian Cowen, has told a Sinn Fein delegation that he will bring the pipe bombs issue to the top of the agenda when he next meets the Northern Secretary.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Brian Cowen, has told a Sinn Fein delegation that he will bring the pipe bombs issue to the top of the agenda when he next meets the Northern Secretary.

The members of Sinn Fein, as well as the families victimised by pipe bomb attacks, have been meeting with Mr Cowan in Dublin.

Sinn Fein's Sean Crowe said it was a positive meeting.

"He listened very closely to what we had to say. He expressed genuine concern about what was happening and said he'd bring it to the top of his agenda at his next meeting. The families are very happy with that positive response," said Mr Crowe.

The Minister also told the group that effective preventative action would be taken.
