McHale Park plays host to one of the biggest matches of the summer today as Mayo take on the reigning All Ireland Champions, Galway, in the Connacht Championship.
The two sides are the giants of Connacht football but Galway have enjoyed more glory in recent years which could stand to them as they look to defend the title they won last year.
Mayo showed some excellent early form in the Allianz National League and made it all the way to the Division One final before losing out to Tyrone.
Galway meanwhile have been much quieter since beating Meath in last year’s All Ireland final as Coach John O’Mahony gave his panel a chance to rest and recharge their batteries.
Mayo are without influential forward Kieran McDonald who has decided not to join the panel this season and his loss could be the difference between the two sides.
The match at McHale Park begins at 2:40pm.
