Explosive device made safe in Kildare

A viable improvised explosive device has been made safe in Co Kildare.

The army bomb disposal team were called, by gardaí, after a suspect device was found at a private residence in Ballitore at approximately 4.40am this morning.

The device was taken to a military location for further technical examination and exploitation and the scene was declared safe at around 6am.

Gardaí are investigating the incident.
