Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League Second Qualifying Round First Leg fixture between Cork City and Red Star Belgrade has sold out within six hours of going on sale.

By 4pm today, all 5,000 tickets available to the home club were sold out having gone on sale from the club’s new shop on Patrick Street at 10am this morning.

Capacity for Wednesday night’s match at Turner’s Cross is 5,500 and Red Star Belgrade have received approximately 500 tickets.

Should the away club not take up its full allocation, there may be some returns going back on sale next week. Further details will be announced in the event of tickets being returned.

Cork City chairman Brian Lennox said: “At the end of what was an eventful week, it’s good that there’s some positive news to report.

“We’re looking forward to a full house and another memorable European night at Turner’s Cross next week.”
