Hospital workers to strike in cleaning dispute

Workers in the Meath Community Unit and St Mary's Hospital in Dublin's Phoenix Park are due to go on strike today to show solidarity with sacked cleaning staff.

Workers in the Meath Community Unit and St Mary's Hospital in Dublin's Phoenix Park are due to go on strike today to show solidarity with sacked cleaning staff.

SIPTU has claimed that the cleaners have effectively been locked out of their workplaces for the past five weeks.

The union has asked the Eastern Regional Health Authority, which has employed a new cleaning company, to join talks to negotiate a settlement.
