Novelty stages return for Picnicers

Electric Picnic organisers have confirmed the artists to play at two of the most unlikely-looking music stages in Ireland.

The Trailer Park promises to be “bigger and better” on its return after making its debut last year.

The vintage vacation park pays part homage to the great American mobile home and its front porch, and “part salute to the dubious memories of the caravan holiday”.

There will be a new stage in Trailer Park this year – The Jerry Fish Electric Sideshow, featuring guest performances from Lisa Hannigan, Cathy Davey, Mick Flannery, Jerry Fish, Gavin James, The Lost Brothers, Gavin Glass and more, as well as a wide array of circus theatre.

The Caravan Stage will welcome Crow Black Chicken, Whistle, Tae Lane Tension, Get Rhythm, Sanderson Jones, Booka Brass, Mukai and This Side Up, amongst others.

Perhaps best know for its irony-laden hosting of Seasick Steve in 2010, the Salty Dog Stage will set sail for the forests of Stradbally again.

Cathey Davey will also be making an appearance here, as well as ‘The Commitments’ actress Bronagh Gallagher, vaudevillians St. John The Gambler, Richard Farrell & the Lost Tribe, Ronan O Snodaig, Insterskalatic, Children of the Son, Pete Pamf, The Hot Sprockets and The Mighty Stef.

The Electric Picnic arts and music festival takes place from Friday August 30 to Sunday September 1 in Stradbally, Co Laois.

Tickets are available from Ticketmaster outlets nationwide.
