Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny has described the Nice Treaty referendum as "one of the most important events of modern, Irish political times".

Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny has described the Nice Treaty referendum as "one of the most important events of modern, Irish political times".

Speaking at the launch of the Fine Gael Campaign for the 'Yes' vote in Dublin, Deputy Kenny said the decision would shape generations to come.

"25 days from now, the people of this country will go to the polls. How they vote, will decide the future of Ireland, and the future of Europe, for generations to come.

"I want the people to be in no doubt: the Nice Treaty referendum is one of the most important events of modern, Irish political times," said Deputy Kenny.
