Pickets at four AIBP meat plants are to be lifted following a breakthrough brokered by the Congress of Trade Unions and the employers body IBEC, according to a company statement released today.

A company spokesman said the pickets will be lifted at Rathkeale, Cahir, Nenagh and Clones and employees will return to work on Wednesday.

He said both AIBP and the company’s employee representatives have agreed to meet at the Labour Court on Friday.

There will then be a hearing on the issue of a possible severance package for people laid off earlier this year.
