Gary Moore has today ruled third-favourite Mourilyan out of next week's totesport Ebor in favour of another outing in Group company at either York or Newbury.
The Goodwood Cup runner-up is widely quoted at 10-1 for next Wednesday's famous summer handicap on the Knavesmire, but will instead run in the Weatherbys Insurance Lonsdale Cup on the same afternoon or in Saturday's CGA Geoffrey Freer Stakes.
The five-year-old had a brief spell with Moore last summer before being transferred to Herman Brown, where he raced internationally, and was having his first outing for four months when running Schiaparelli to a length at Goodwood.
Moore said: "He definitely won't be running in the Ebor as he would have top weight and we will look at the other two races.
"We have put him in the Geoffrey Freer and the York race and will see which looks easiest.
"We put him in the Geoffrey Freer and the thinking was if he runs there, then he could head back to Goodwood later in the month for a Listed mile-and-six-furlong race.
"Touch wood, he has come out of his last race well. He came back to me after running in Dubai in March for Herman Brown, and he ran a blinder at Goodwood after four months off."
