Mikhail Gorbachev has touched down in Dublin and says he is delighted to be able to spend time in Ireland.

Mikhail Gorbachev has touched down in Dublin and says he is delighted to be able to spend time in Ireland.

Speaking to reporters at Dublin Airport he recalled that his last visit here was just a stopover at Shannon.

The former Russian leader also said that his granddaughters have been studying here.

Tomorrow Mr Gorbachev will receive the freedom of Dublin and he will attend a number of other engagements during his two days here.
