A Dublin man is fighting for his life following an early morning stabbing incident in the Coolock area.

Gardai were alerted when the casualty was brought to the Accident and Emergency Unit of Beaumont Hospital at 4am.

Detectives are still trying to piece together what exactly happened. It appears the man was stabbed during a row.

A house on the New Grove estate has been examined by forensic experts. It is not the injured man’s home but is where Gardai believe he was stabbed.

It is thought that the man, who is in his twenties, was there with a group of people when the stabbing happened.

Gardai say they are anxious to speak to anyone who was in the house at the time.
