The American church minister who admitted being present at the suicide of an Irish woman in Dublin has claimed any action against him cannot succeed because of his position in the church.
Gardai are currently investigating Reverend George Exoo over his involvement in the suicide of 49-year-old Rosemary Toole, who killed herself in her house in Donnybrook last week.
Reverend Exoo and a companion travelled from the US to witness the death with $2,500 given to them by Ms Toole.
Gardai have said they will move their investigation to the US because of the admission, but Mr Exoo has claimed there is no case against him because of the fact that he is a clergyman, that Ms Toole requested his presence and that her family apparently approved.
He said she told him that she had an illness affecting her brain, rather than simply being depressed.
Assisting suicide is a criminal offence in Ireland and carries a maximum prison sentence of 14 years.
