Revenue Commissioners make communication an internal affair

Ireland’s largest employer of civil servants has developed a portal to boost productivity via targeted knowledge-sharing and collaboration across the organisation.

Ireland’s largest employer of civil servants has developed a portal to boost productivity via targeted knowledge-sharing and collaboration across the organisation.

The Revenue Commissioners have selected Computer Associates (CA) and design partner, Strata3, to develop the portal known as ‘RevNet’.

The aim of the project is to ensure the intranet becomes the main channel/portal for Revenue staff in relation to internal dissemination of, and access to, information.

The RevNet portal has been customised for individual divisions.

This will allow announcements to be tailored and sent to the relevant employees, and will provide a central source of information for research into tax issues, departmental documents and advice for the public.

“Access to information is absolutely key, but it needs to reach the right people at the right time” said Allen Finnegan, head of communications at the Revenue Commissioners.

“Having all the relevant information in the organisation collated, catalogued and centralised will improve efficiency of both internal and external communications.

“We believe RevNet is an innovative project, which will certainly help us to deliver on our organisational communications goals.”

RevNet is now available to all 7000 staff.
