Gardaí in Kildare are investigating after a man was assaulted at the Oxegen festival at Punchestown.

Gardaí in Kildare are investigating after a man was assaulted at the Oxegen festival at Punchestown.

The incident happened in one of the car parks at around 11pm last night.

The 28-year-old man has been taken to St James' hospital in Dublin, where his condition is described as stable.

A man in his twenties has been arrested under section four of the Criminal Justice Act. He has been taken to Naas garda station where he can be held for up to 24 hours.

Gardaí have made a total of 47 arrests at the three-day music festival so far, for public order and road traffic incidents, as well as offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
